Default cutting off the winch hook...suggestions!

Im waiting on my factor 5 prolink I ordered from Northridge, similar to the safety thimble, and Im trying to decide on how to remove my current winch hook. Its a cast piece so I need to cut it off, and I really dont want resplice my winch rope, but whats the fastest and easiest way? I read somewhere that you could use a "really good hacksaw" but man does that sound painfully slow. But if a hacksaw would work then I should be able to use my dremel with metal cutting wheel.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
BTKillerr

Harbor Freight...lay the pipe to it with a grinder w/cut off wheel. The amount of work you will do with it later down the road on your Jeep will be well worth the investment...or get a nice Dewalt one, and never worry about buying another one.

It's one of those tools that everyone needs specially a Jeep owner in the rustbelt like where I live.

+1 Get a good grinder and it will make short work of it and you will use it more than you think.

Grinder with cutoff wheel is your best option you will be able to make a controlled cut.
