CV style yoke vs. adapter
After reading several threads about the front driveshaft, I'm wondering how many folks have replaced the yoke (to go with a cv style u-joint) at the transfer case vs. how many folks went with some sort of adapter?
Are there any disadvantages with the adapter?
Is the CV style yoke a stronger set-up?
Is it difficult for an average DIY'er to replace the yoke?
Thanks

your factory front drive shaft HAS a CV joint. the purpose of installing a new yoke is so that you can accomodate a double cardan u-joint style shaft. you do not want to run an adapter as doing so will only increase the angle your joints have to operate in and that makes controlling vibrations very difficult. replacing the flange with a yoke allows you to increase the length of your drive shaft and that reduces the angles on your joints. installing a new yoke is very simple.
