D ring question

Just got my olympic 4x4 d ring mounting bracket which is 3/4" in diameter. I ordered 3/4" d rings which are way too big so I also just ordered 1/2" d rings so what am I missing will the 1/2" fit or am I missing something with the 3/4" d rings
