Default D30 center section material?

What is the center section (pumpkin) of my D30 made of?
Is it cast iron like a normal D30 or did they cheap out and make it of mild steel like the knuckles?
Putting a truss on my axle and want to know what will be needed to weld to the pumpkin.
Thanks!!

based on the lines, I would say they are still cast.

The center section is cast iron, the tubes are cast steel. Use a high nickel rod/wire to weld to the center section and you will be fine.

BTW: Cast steel cost more to make than cast iron. Steel is used where you need a material that sees more stress and is more likely to crack if it was made out of iron.
