Default D30 Gear Pattern Check please

I'm regearing my 2012 JkU to 4.56. I did the rear with a truetrac and put a few hundred miles on it without issue. I changed the settings using hp tuners to get out of limp mode.

Now I'm setting up the D30 in the front. I used new gears and old carrier that had 4.10s on it. I reused the pinion shim as the pattern I was getting was centered on the ring gear. Backlash is 0.008.

IM not sure if I am going to a d44 so I just want matching gears for now.

This is the pattern I'm getting.
Thank you Bill

Everything I’ve seen documenting how to do gears and read patterns indicates that this is fine. The drive pattern looks good, the coast pattern looks a little biased to the crown and heel. But from what I’ve seen and read, as long as the drive side pattern is good then you’re set. All the adjustments that I’ve read indicate an adjustment of both sides or the drive side is out of whack.

Sv_dude, thank you for posting. I used a crush sleeve eliminator so I could take it apart if needed. I'm at the point where if it takes me longer but I learn I am happy.

Thanks again!

If you want to play with it a bit more looks like you need a little more shim on the pinion. How is the backlash?

Can you expand on this a bit? Why do you say it needs more pinion shim?is this to get the coast side off the heel and a little more towards the toe?

My eyes aren’t near as good as they used to be, but from looking at the picture, I would say the ring gear could be shimmed a little closer in towards the center, the paint pattern looks to be riding closer to the edge of the ring gear teeth instead of center, I could be wrong though, I thought I was wrong once before, but I was mistaken

I made a mistake. It could use a thinner shim on the pinion. Its not bad but it s a bit off to the heal side on the coast side. Sorry for the mistake.
