Default D44 & 35" Tires

I have a stock RUBICON and want to get a lift and bigger tires, My question is will the factory D44 Axles handle a 35inch tire or will i have problems?

Yep, from what I've read the stock Rubicon will hold 35's with the D44's and 4.10 gear ratio no prob (with lift of course). Depending on how insane you get offroad, some may say increase gear ratio but I think you're fine.

The typical question is will the lesser D30 handle 35s? One could say the D44 was designed to handle 35s and can readily handle 37s.

The issue is not the strength of axle assembly, the issue is does it have the right gears to match your driving needs and expectations.

heck, i'm running 35's on my X with 3.73 gears and it's tollerable. needless to say, the factory 44's will handle 35's no problem.

From my understanding:

As long as you take it easy on the gas pedal you shouldnt have an issue. There are a lot of people who run 35's on the d30.

It all really depends on what you are doing.

I'm pretty heavy on the pedal and my D44's hold up great on the trails w/toyo 35's (4lo lockers on).

next question, with the stock 4.10 gears what kind of gas mileage are you seeing, was it a huge decrease or did it not really drop much?
