D44 Question

Is there a difference in housing designs of D44's between 2007 and 2012?

No, they are all the same.

There is a difference in the internal dimensions of the rear D44 between the Rubicon and non-Rubicon models. The Rubicon locker is metric. Externally, I have not heard of any kind of difference.

Correct.. a difference by model but not by year.

There is also the Military J8 D44 which is different again but all J8 D44 are the same since 07 ..
