Default Dana 30 and 37's?!?

How well/long do you think the front dana 30 will hold up with 37's?

What kind of gearing do you have? If you have anything less then 4:10's. I'd say not very long. Do you have plans of upgrading your gearing to say 4:88's or 5:13's? I do believe that would be your best route.

the 30s will hold up fine ya should think about gears if ya got less than 4.10s auto or manual??????that will also make a world of difference when regearing dd or weekend warrior? you have to take your driving habits into consideration then ask around and see what people with your driving habits are using and happy with!!!!!!!!!

Don't even bother. The D30 center section is so tiny with standard gears, with 5.13's the pinion is soooo small. Very little tooth contact and is just waiting to go pop.

I had to replaced my front D30 just after 50,000. Also, I'm only running 33's w/ 4:10 gears. Time and money was a factor when I had to replace mine. I now wish I'd held out for the D44 with locker. If you're dead set on keeping the D30. I'd order some chromo alloy replacements to have on stand by.

I recently busted a front axle shaft in a D44 on 35's. My boss just spun the Ring and Pinion on his TJ with 35's. I don't trust a 30 with 35's let alone 37's. A 30 can live up thru 32's or 33's but that is where my confidence ends.

With 37's you need 5.13's or 5.38's and the pinion is just too small in a 30 to let 5.13's live. The Rubi D44 has a pretty good sized pinion and will likely handle the 37's. 37's are a big commitment; are you sure you want to go there?

Im scared just having 35's on my 30 with 4.10's. Next 3K I get im buying a dana 44! I have wheeled it pretty hard with 35's and no problems. Just be careful with the skinny pedal!
