Does a stock 2011 Wrangler Dana 30 have 27 or 30 spline axles?

Thanks. I was thinking about installing an Elocker and needed to know which one to buy.

Does your wheeling style require a locker? Nobody is going to advise a selectable locker for a D30 as it's cash in the trash. If you are wheeling hard enough to need a front locker, it's just going to be a ticking time bomb. That said, many people think they need a locker when they really don't. A $300 lunchbox locker is a nice compromise for a D30, but they have their drawbacks as well.

Yea I don't want the issues of a lunchbox locker especially here in NJ. We don't get snow often but I'd be weary of it when we do. I only do mild rock crawling and trail riding sometimes with mud. I have a truetrac in the rear now but miss the lockers from my Rubicon. Didn't want to spend the money for complete axles like I did with a previous Sport Unlimited, which I sold at a huge loss.

I run an Eaton E-locker in my D30 on 35"s and wheel pretty hard. I carry a spare set of front shafts with me. I break a u joint every now and then and it usually takes the ears of the axle shaft out with it. It takes 20 minutes to swap a front shaft out on the trail. I like letting the cheap u-joint be my weak link vs my ring and pinion. I can buy a lot of factory from shafts from the junkyard for the price of a front axle swap.

hear ya. Sounds like you know what you're getting into then, and have a good handle on your use.

That's a smart way of looking at it and good advice, thanks.
