I'd say you want chromoly's. Superior and AlloyUSA both make them. The Superiors will require you to change out the axle seals. The AlloyUSA are a fairly simple switch out using the stock seals.

I got the alloyUSA shafts, although I never broke my stockers. I call 'em trail spares...

Im running 35x12.50 tires but I dont think it was the tires alone that broke the axles as i had been in the deep snow before i added the detroit locker with no problems.....
Has anyone broke their aftermarkets shafts ? I just thinking they are going to be a good chunk of a dana 44 also does the 44 have axle breaking problems too?

Unless you learn how to drive correctly, you'll break even chromemoly axles. Not trying to ba a smartass at all. We have an of roading 101 forum. You should go and read it.

In all seriousness, don't get cromolys. After you get cromolys, since your carrier is upgraded, now your R&P is the weak link. I rather replace a shaft every few months on the trail than chew up a R&P and be done for on the entire axle (for the most part, it will take out your carrier). Don't make your R&P be the weak link. I would NEVER get cromolys, much less $1,000 Longfields for the D30. Poor investment.
