Default Dana 30 Question

On the new JK's front axal. I have read that in the older Dana 30's if you put 35's on them , the inerds of the axals break on you. is this still true with the newer Dana's. if this is the case i won't get 35's i'll stick with 33's instead.

you'll be fine. Theres plenty of people running 35's on a D30.

just dont throttle it hard on the rocks

...and to add to PiginaJeep's post, if you add a good locker and chromemoly axles, your D30 will just about be bullitproof.

If you just do mild wheeling, do you need to add gussets for the 30's? Or even the chromollys?

THe gussets sure wouldn't hurt a thing. As cheap as they are....I got me a set to put on when the weather warms up. I wouldn't think the axle upgrade would be necessary for mild wheelin, but again, it wouldn't hurt a thing.

gussets are not a bad idea... but seriously you'll be fine. I doubt you'll ever beat on your JK as hard as I did on my green one and I didnt have any issues

Default thanks

thanks for all the support. the lockers are coming. just dont's know when. i will be using stock wheels. as afar as tire size, 315/75/16 or 285/75/16. i like the stockers. not ready to give them up yet. maybe after the first year or two.

I have been wheeling pretty hard on my D30 with 35" for the past 2 years and they are still holding up just fine. Wheeling hard does not mean I am hard the the skinny pedal... just that I am hitting hard trails.

For every one who has been running 35's for a while, have your ball joints been holding up, or can you beat on them going out before long if you go with 35's?
