Default Daystar tailgate bump stops

I'm finally mounting my spare 35" tire on stock 17" rims on my tailgate with the $30 teraflex bracket. Are longer tailgate bump stops needed like the Daystar ones?

Feedback would be great! Thanks

You should be fine using the stock ones if you are using the stock rims. You might even need to make the stock bump stops shorter depending on the width of the tire.

EDIT: are you talking about the spacer or the brake light relocate bracket. If it is a spacer then yes you will need longer bump stops probably

I was talking about the $30 teraflex spacer. But if your saying I would be fine trimming the stock ones then that will definitely save me some $$

I believe the radiator hose is used to fill the gap between the tire and bumpstop. Basically, if there is a gap between the tire and bumpstop, you cut a piece of radiator hose to slide over the bumpstop. Just make sure the hose is long enough to cover the gap and fit snug against the tire. You don't want the tire to start rattling on the tailgate.
But unless you have an old radiator hose laying around, you're probably better off buying the daystars.

Here's mine. That piece of hose ended up being $20, but I did it a few weeks before the Daystar products came out. It's just a piece of hose that slips tightly onto the stock bumpstops. I went to a couple parts stores and none carried it in stock, but one was able to get it for me that afternoon. Sorry, I don't remember the hose diameter, but it's here on the forum somewhere if you search for it.

you don't need the daystars. the daystars are for aftermarket wheels that push the spare further out. If you have a stock wheel with a 35 you may have to trim th eoem stops or even get a bracket that mves the tire up and out. So once you get the daystars and they don't work, send them to me because I need some until I get a rear carrier

Lol, I was just about to order them too. Ok, saved me a couple bucks then, awesome

Gives me more options for choosing which 30 pack I want for the weekend
