Dead Winch?
So it looks like my winch has seized up in some way. I'm guessing because I've always left it uncovered in New England weather?
Anyways, is there a way to possibly test certain parts that tend to be the failure points and see what's wrong with it? Or is it more than likely just dead and ready for the scrap pile?
It's a low end Smittybilt winch that I've never been happy with anyways, but it would be nice to get it working again.

Sounds like a good reason to upgrade!
If you want to troubleshoot it you need to figure out if the motor is frozen or if its in the gear box.
It is a good opportunity to learn about your equipment.

Agreed on taking it apart. A winch is just a geared, electric motor. Same concept as like an electric grinder. If you don't need an upgrade and want to save some cash, I'd try and repair it.
If your using this as an excuse to upgrade I would still take it apart and see if you can fix. It would be a good knowledge to have plus if you get it working you could sell it and make some money back.
