Default Dealer can't do 33"! Accu Pro or Hypertech?

So I took my JK in to the dealer today to have them flash the speedo for my new 33" tires. They told me they weren't sure if they could go to 33" but should be able to get close enough. After they finish and I paid my $50.00, I ask them, what size they were able to go to? The guy says, the largest size we had available and I say again, what size? He says, 255-70-18. As I'm walking out I realize that's the stock size that came on my Sahara. I tell them this and they say sorry but that's the largest we can do and I say, you just charged me $50.00 to reset my computer to exactly what it was before! Uh, sorry they say, but that's the best we can do. Didn't you realize this before you did it I ask? etc....

Anyway, I desperately need to fix it as this thing is a dog now on the highway. I'm all over the place with the shift points, forget cruise control! and my mileage went from about 19 to 14 or less!

So, to fix this myself, should I go with the Acccu Pro or the Hypertech? If the Hypertech can't actually adjust shift points on the JK and only accomplishes this because of the tire size correction, wouldn't the Accu Pro do the same thing?

Also, what's the consensus on CAI and or cat back exhaust?

Thanks!

So yesterday I call my dealer up to inquire about having a reflash for 33" tires. The fellow on the phone says, "We won't know what size we can do until we connect up the computer, and it will be $95 for that work." So I ask, "Is this the same computer that is used to reflash for the recall?" He confirms it is. So I then ask, "Well, I still need the recall, how much to reflash for the tires while doing that?". "The recall is free, the tires will be $95." "So all the work of hooking up the computer, booting it up, getting it talking to my Jeep, etc, which is required for both jobs, I must still pay for anyway?" "Yep." "And you don't even know if you can reflash for 33" tires?" "Not until we connect it up."

I have a standard, I don't expect anything to fix the loss of acceleration (fortunately I have the 4.10s), and I'm not about ready to start buying premium gas. So, I think I'm going to get an Accupro.

my dealer said that they can flash the computers spedo up to a measured 33.8" tire. My 33's are 33.1. I think the stock tires were 32.05. After the tire swap my speedo was off by less than mile per hour at 65. Ohh.. and they flashed it at no charge when I went by to let them buy back the stock alloy wheels and tires.

From what I've read here picking and searching through all the info available on these boards, all flashing for a larger tire size will do is correct the speedo and keep your ESP from going loopy.

It's the nature of the beast when you up your tire size to lose MPG no matter what. Turn OD off on the highway with the bigger tires and your Jeep won't be all over the pace shifting.

I know alot of people are calling dealers to see if they cam flash the computer when larger tires are out on. Has anyone called DC to ask about this since no one seems to get a straight answer???

On a side note. I did call one dealer who installs lift/larger tires before they sell their JK's. SO I ask them if they flash the computer so the odometer and speedometer are corrected. The lady says no they can't do that. Then I say. So you are selling brand new JK's with mods and the odometer and speedometer are not correctly working. This is probably a " no no " when it comes to laws and odometers. She says. You would have to talk to sales about that. I like how she pawned the responsibility and blame off on someone else. She said we do the mods and I'm not sure if they sell them after that. I was laughing ma a$$ of after that. What a joke. So you do mods and then you just let your jeep sit in the lot and look good and not sell them. Give me a break.

NOt sure if this is agianst the law or not but thought it was funny.

accu-por and hypertech are the same thing. The accu-pro is made by hypertech.

Yor to options are the speedo calibrator "accu-pro" for 199.95 or the max energy for 379.95.

The max energy also adds HP and torque.
Hope that helps

Hello Dave,

Does the Accu-Pro or Max Energy also have the option to let the computer know that there has been a change in gear ratio sizes (i.e if someone was to swap gears from the 3.73 to 5.13)

Thank you..

Will using the Accu-pro void the factory warranty?
