Dealer Installed Mods?
So I was at Rausch Creek today with my friend and ran into a guy from Maryland who had a 2012 jk sport. He had a 3 inch bbs lift (i think that's the name), 35" tires and black rims, sway bar disconnects from a rubi, and rock rails/ rocker guards installed all by the dealer. The lift is under a lifetime warranty and he told me that the lift, rims and tires cost around $2,000 at the dealer. Do all dealerships do this or only certain ones? Cause if that's the case.. I'm putting all of that in my order for my next jeep! I know, it takes the fun out of modding, but for the money, that doesn't sound bad at all!

There is no way those mods cost just $2,000... installed... by the dealer. The parts for those mods may be $2,000 (if cheap), but the dealership didn't install them for free. The preferred package my local dealership installs is a 3" lift, 35" BFG's, and XD-Series rims for... $5,995.
I have a local dealership that does this and, of course, it's only an option at the time of sale. There is a glitch in the matrix though...

Yeah I agree, that sounded way to cheap. The tires alone would be around 2 grand. Maybe I'm mixing my numbers up.. I was too busy having a good time offroading to retain anything he said. Do some dealerships offer the mopar parts/ lifts/ rims etc with a warranty? I think I remember reading that in a thread sometime ago. I know the new COD rubi jeep can be upgraded with lifts, bumpers, etc.
I'm lucky to have a mod-friendly (with respect to reason) dealership. There are a few out there, thankfully. Most of the guys in the Service department have cool toys.
not all dealerships do it, but they are catching on. There's fine print to go along with it - primarily, it's not lifetime drive train or any other mechanical Jeep component with Chrysler, just the lift (which most lift vendors provide). Also, you have to agree to let that specific dealership perform all maintenance on the Jeep for warranty to apply - this include oil changes etc...
If you've modified your Jeep and take it back for a valid warranty claim, the dealer has 2 choices - honor the claim and make little to no $$$ on it or void your warranty and flag you with Chrysler.
Word of mouth spread amongst the Jeep community and a dealer will find themselves with fewer buyers if they are deemed unfriendly to the Jeep owners.
Someone finally got creative and found a way to get more business instead of battling Jeep owners who lift their Jeeps and risk losing future business. They'll install the modifications make it sound like the warranty applies to Chryslers warranty and lock you into their service agreement.
I like it! -why? cause now as a Jeep owner, if I take my modified Jeep in for a valid warranty claim and get denied or black listed, I stand a better chance of making a case.
I found all this out when my younger brother asked me to go check out a showroom lifted Jeep the dealship was trying to sell him..

Cool thanks for the input. Hopefully I can find some mod friendly dealerships around me. I have 2 grand saved up, and if the dealer can put all of that on my new jeep (if the price is right evnough for me to even consider trading in my rubi) then i'll just put it toward that.
