I had a recent bout with DW. Read the thread and retorqued everything. No more wobble. I will now retorque durring every oil change. Also during my inspection found the pitman arm nut was just north of being hand tight. Inspect your steering system often.

That's a great idea if u got time.. some ppl, myself included, can follow and use pics and video better than text.
I have a short attention span, but videos keep my mind interested...

If you get under the jeep and have someone turn the wheel back and forth, you will notice the OEM track bar flexes quite a bit in addition to the bushings compressing and flexing,

with my 3.5 lift I ditched the lower aftermarket track bar bracket and OEM track bar, I added a JKS adjustable trackbar and death wobble after hitting a bump is gone ahthough I still get more stearing wheel shimmy than when It was at under 3" lift

You found the problem. Get the tires balanced, and your shimmy will be gone.

UPDATE. my wheels not being balanced probably isnt helping but i looked at the passenger side coil and it is bowed so much that its hitting the frame. im assuming this is the real problem and is happening because my stock trackbar is too short. im ordering up an adjustable and hopefully that will do it. BTW thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions

its not a shimmy this is a full on violent "rip the front end apart" wobble

Planman, love your article. Recently had a 3.5 lift installed on my 09 sahara unlimited with only 16000 km. Never a problem, but right after the REAL DW when hit even a small bump. 4x4 centre who installed tried everything in your post to no avail. They changed my tires and problem resolved! Thoughts on this?

Call it what you want, but if you had a "death wobble" you would never make it to 40mph.

The axle not being centered will not cause the wobble.

i think if i threw a wheel weight it would be a steady wobble. this wobble only happens when i hit a bump and doesnt stop until im down to 5 or 10 MPH. on a smooth road i can still run 60mph with no problems. im getting them balanced tomrorrow just in case and have an adjustable trackbar on the way. wont hurt either way..
