Default Death wobble questions.

Recently I had shop install the Rubicon Express Short Arm FLex 3.5" lift kit. No problems for a few weeks. The a few days past I started getting a heavy shake to the front end when I would hit a bump or railroad tracks or something. Normally when I was over 45 miles per hour. Even when it was not a huge bump I would get the shake.

I took my Jeep back the shop and they went through the entire lift kit to verify that everything was tight. They also reballanced by tires since I recently had rotation and ballance done. Two were out of ballance.

However, I still have a wobble, not as bad, but still a wobble.

I recall once when I was much younger that I had a car that wobbled like that and I had replace a bushing and the problem was fixed.

Could this be the same? I only have 11,000 on my Jeep.

Any suggestions?

I did find that page and found a couple of other pages from some other forums. I am going to try a some of the items that I have found listed on the pages.

I have had my wheel rebalanced. My death wobble is now just a wobble. My Jeep does not shake as much now as it did before, but the shake/wobble is still much more than what it was prior to a couple of weeks past.

Monday I plan to crawl under it and see what I can figure out.

I will come back and post what I find.

I went out and tried some of the suggestions that are mentioned and failed to find the cause of my death wobble. It is not as bad now as it was prior to re-balancing the tires, but none the less, it still wobbles.

I phoned the shop back and they said to bring the Jeep in again and drop it off and they will look again. Not sure what else there is to look at. I could not see anything that looked out of place or incorrect, but then again, I don't have suspension experience.

I am hopeful they will fix the problem.

Death Wobble curred.

I took my Jeep back to the shp. They ended up ordering a part that allow them to change the angle of the steering drag link. Then my Jeep would either pull to the right and drive off to the left when the steering wheel was straightened. Back to the shop and they ended up adding a bracket to the passenger's side of the track bar. Now the Jeep runs great. No more wobble and it even drives straight without effort on the driver's part.

I am very pleased. I had to go back to the shop several times to get it all corrected. However, the shop did not once try to pass the buck and took very good care of me.

Here is the bars i mentioned.

Just been following.....glad to see you figured it out. It is frustrating when you can't seem to pinpoint what the issue is. Good ending though.

Just want to add to this. I had a friend who had a new onset of DW. She took it into a shop several times and they could never figure it out. A friend went over and looked at her Jeep and found a crack in the track bar bracket on the frame side. She wheels, but is not hard on it at all. We're talking fire road type stuff. He welded it up and it's good as new. Just keep it in mind.

I was quite lucky I went to the shop that I did. They put in many hours trying to figure out what the problem was. I had to leave my Jeep with them for an entire day twice. But they corrected it. Not only did they find and correct the problem, they did not charge me a nickel for doing so. Thus I threw my regear job at them. I figure if they are going to stand behind the lift install that well, then they should stand behind the re gear as well.

I am pleased with the way my Jeep drives now. If I get a chance, I will take a couple of photos of the correcting parts and post them.
