Default Destination M/T vs. A/T

Need some help....have changed out tires a couple of times now and I am thinking of doing it again. I have had Mickey MTZ's, Firestone Destination A/T and now thinking of Destination M/T's. The reason for the firestone is the price I can get - cousin works there and I can get 285 x 70 x 17 M/T (5 of them) for $686.41 out the door.

Question is whether or not I will loss a lot in rain and winter weather with the M/T. I have been reading the reviews - which if you read enough of them they are all b.s. as they contradict each other over time.

Have also thought of getting the M/T and then having them siped to inprove the rain/light snow traction.

Thoughts....do I get the M/T or keep the A/T.

While I would love to say I do more, I do about 10% light off roading, 5% hard core (Northern WI mud and terrain) and the rest is highway driving. I know the noise and ride difference.....just miss the look!

Thanks-

I have 285-75-16s Firestone M/T's and I love them for all conditions...not to mention the wear on these things have been awesome so far - I have 10k on them and they look like new still. When they are bald im gonna get more of the same size/style! Im guessin / hopin for 50-60k out of these.

I only wished I could have gotten them for the price that you can!

Hope that helps....
Derek

That's a great deal for the M/Ts. Now they have finally made a 315/75/R16. When I looked at tires, they only had 33" sizes. I have heard good things about wear and traction.

Aren't the MT's all load range "E"? I know when I got my set that was all that was available and it made for a bone jarring ride.
