Default Did 35s void your warranty?

I'm trying to decide between 33s and 35s. The primary consideration at this point is going to come down to warranty coverage. I like the 35s but have a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty (or as close as you can get) and don't want to lose it. I'm aware of the information about how the dealership would have to show that the modification caused the failure and read Eddie's post (most of it) about lifts voiding warranties but I'm really trying to avoid that argument altogether. I asked at my local dealership and they said they "thought" I'd be okay but won't put anything in writing. I curious to know if anyone had trouble with warranty coverage without much modification other than 35s.

33 might be best with just your leveling kit. 35's more lift needed.

Or you could save your stock wheels and tires for dealership trips

The only correct answer is maybe. Depends on the dealership and their policy regarding mods. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act has been quoted on internet forums for years as the reason that dealers cannot deny warranty claims based on the use of aftermarket parts. In reality, the dealer just needs to show that the aftermarket part in some way caused the problem and then flag the vehicle in the system. Larger tires could be blamed for a whole lot of issues and how much larger really doesn't matter. On the other hand, some dealers tell you to mod the hell out of it and wheel it. They make a lot of money on non-warranty repairs and installation of accessories on modified rigs. I'd find one of these to go to.

Funny, I was thinking about saving the wheels like you suggest. Wasn't sure if that was crazy. Not a bad idea if I could stomach the cost of the rims I wanted.

The other thing I've learned is a good relationship with the service manager (and a few bucks) seems to make things go a lot smoother when you need something.

I take my JK into the dealership for oil changes and other issues with my 35's on. They haven't voided my warranty. How do I know this....??? I had an issue with some bushings and they replaced them for free because it was covered under warranty.

I wonder how much consistency there is between stealerships. I also read WOL's thread because I was having my own warranty issues, and it made me wonder if some dealerships are just hard asses. My suggestion is to go with the 35's because they look wicked. If the dealer gives you crap, call Chrysler LLC and start a case. You could argue the inconsistency between dealers, and that there are others out there that don't have their warranties voided over a modest tire upgrade. The dealer does not have the last say in these matters. For as much as I like to bitch about my Jeep dealership, I found Chrysler LLC very easy to work with, and I am far from an easy to please kinda guy.

I saved my original steelies just in case I needed to go to the dealer for something like a trans problem or something. The stock 16 aren't worth much so it was easy to just stack them in a corner off the shop.
