Default Diesel in a JK?

I am going to put a lift in I my new 4door 2012 JK So I stopes by Jeffs Jeep Yard for the install. Jeff did my 2007 2door. Jeff showed me a jk with a Diesel motor. Jeff tell me he is going to bring it to MOAB this year and will be offering a conversion package. He is going to call it Bruiser Turbo Diesel.

River Raider has a conversion to the 4BT turbo-diesel, from their description/specs seems like at least as good if not better than a hemi if you're going the spend the time and money to do an engine swap.

Granted I have little experience with Diesels. But the ones I have driven have tremendous turbo lag. Driving field trucks in 1-2 ft of mud is a nightmare. Its either all or nothing no middle ground. Keep in mind these are 10000 lbs trucks.

I have a ford f350 with a diesel at work and I love it. It's smooth and lot of low end torque. I think a diesel will give you better fuel mileage, run taller gears and lots of torque. Has anyone do the conversion and how much did it cost?

River raider will do it for you for a little less then a hemi swap. It has great torque and will get decent mileage. I was actually at their shop today.

So its probably safe to say $10,000+ for the swap? You'd have to put on a LOT of miles to save $10k in fuel before you even broke even. Unless your original JK engine needed a rebuild, then maybe a 4bt might be an affordable option.
