Default diff. covers

im not downing this co. in any way, their diff covers are built to last, and can be painted, made in U.S.A., for a very good price. I just installed mine when the gears got installed and they look great. However if you plan on getting GREAT LAKE OFFROAD diff covers they will work but they will prob leak also. the way they are made they do not cover the sealing surface completly.(i know this first hand), also i started hearing this wierd CLONK noise and after inspecting everything the trac bar comes in contact with the top of diff cover when hitting a pothole, this is because the way the are made, kinda squared off at the top and dont leave enough clearence. they are nice and a good price, just beware. why did i pick them..... jp mag did a diff shootout on diff covers where they actually shot them with different calliber weapons and thats how they were rated. the ones i mentioned above really shined. just my experience

Did you try a lubelocker gasket?

The clearance is another problem alltogether.

I run ARB diff covers on both my jeeps. The are cut close and very stout. I don't have any rubbing problems.

Your other option is to change your track bar out for another brand, or get a lower bracket that raises the bar up. Either way could help you.

I thought that test was kind of stupid.. I'm not too worried about my diffs getting shot at. Definitely not an accurate way to grade diff covers they way they're actually abused. Sells magazines though!

it was a pretty cool test, especially if you like guns. do have lube lockers and they are torqued in sequence and to spec. and do have an aftermarket trac bar. the rubbing issues is because it is made with a small shelf on the top. it is what it is, you live and learn.Dave at northridge said riddlers are the lowest profile. SO..... thats what i did

x3. I dont trust what JP has to say ever. This forum has much better information when doing research. I still suscribe to JP and wiat for it like a junkie waiting for crack but I take everything they say with a grain of salt.

I ordered ARBs and they are being installed on my jeep today as part of regear. They seemed really heavy duty and very low profile.
