Default Difference between OBA and CO2

Hello,

Question. I have a chance to pick a CO2 tank at an affordable price (at least I think so) with everything I need to mount/use it.

Now my understanding is that a CO2 tank fills tires faster, but you have to take it somewhere to get re-filled.
The other option is a under hood OBA system with a reserve tank or sorts in the back somewhere.

My thought was to get the CO2 tank now (it's cheaper than one of the full OBA systems, and I don't air down often), and then down the road buy a compressor to mount under the hood to fill the CO2 tank.

Is this feasible? Or should I just forget this, and go with a OBA kit that includes the tank and whatnot.

CO2 cannot be refilled by a standard pump. The tank is around 3000psi and uses a regulator to bump that pressure down to a usable pressure.

I personally have a C02 set up and it works great for my needs. I only bring the bottle when I need it. I got the bottle for free off of a buddy, I believe that it is a 20lb tank and it cost around $20 to fill it up. I got a regulator online for right around $50 bucks shipped.

And to refill it you can go somewhere where they fill up paintball gun tanks like dicks sporting goods

Biggest problem with CO2 tanks is your buddies will want to use it, lol. Depending on tank size, PSI and tire size, you can fill 10-20 tires per charge in my experience. Once it's done, it's done and then have to refill. OBA, you basically have an unlimited supply of air.

If you don't need to fill your tires that often, get an inexpensive air compressor and then get OBA when you can afford it.

Sure the CO2 is faster, but I don't like that it costs money to refill.

I've been running OBA but am getting a co2 bottle as well...nothing like filling up in seconds versus minutes when it's raining or to help out in a pinch with air tools. Just my

I've got a 20# CO2 tank. $18 to refill. Fills tires fast. Runs air tools. And portable on the trail.
