difference between winch fairleads

for whatever it's worth, i run synth line with delrin rollers on my white JK and on steel rollers on my orange JK. as mentioned, so long as the rollers are new and haven't been used with steel rope, they will be just fine to use. i personally like running rollers as they work much better in extreme side pulls. however, as mentioned, not all hawse fairleads are made the same and you can get some that are significantly thicker and that helps a lot.

That is certainly true, and the weight of the wire rope is a factor for considering synthetic line if the other factors weren't convincing enough.

However, what I was talking about was fairlead choice with synthetic line; hawse or roller. Since both cases are with synthetic rope, the weight savings of synthetic vs. wire rope isn't a factor.
