DIY Body Amor?

So I've been really wanting to get some poison spyder (Poison Spyder Custom Part 18-08-410-ALUM - JK Body Armor) or EVO body armor but I can't justify paying the price right now. I started thinking about it though and was curious if anyone has tried making their own with aluminum from home depot. My apologies if this is a redundant thread, I did some searching around here but didn't find any other threads related to the subject matter.
