Default Diy grille inserts - plastic or metal?

Going to do this mod soon and was wondering what the advantages / disadvantages of plastic vs metal are by those that have already done this. Lowes sells plastic (in a roll) and metal (sheets) of black gutter guard. Metal would be a little more expensive, but only by about $10.

Plastic. Easier to cut & flex. Dont 4get 2 use Gorilla Glue with zip tie anchors.

I used 3/8 perforated steel. I like it cause it goes along with the round headlights parking lights, took the plasti dip off the headlights since then

I went with metal since I didn't want a rock breaking plastic and having to redo it. The grill is a PIA to take off with the stuff I have on the front.

I'm really leaning towards metal the more I think about it. I know plastic is much easier to work with but metal seems like it would be more durable. Thinking about bed lining them too.

Honestly metal isn't that hard, mine has some weight to it, but it hasn't budged in almost 2 years now, I used a mesh before and really prefer the metal.

I bought my metal ones at home depot two years ago and they have been holding up pretty well. Just make sure that you bond the little plastic squares really good to the grill, scuff sand both the squares and the grill. Also make sure you remove the sticky adhesive on the squares if you use them, if you don't remove the adhesive you will be sorry and have to go back and do the job a second time...first hand experience! I think I used like 16 squares per screen, primed and painted them, and look great! GL with your mod!

Did mine with metal was a little harder than using plastic but I believe the end result is better. Like everyone says glue the tie strap blocks in place otherwise you will be taking off the grille again, I used 2 epoxy
