DIY rock rails
I have seen a kit from woods which is a couple of prebent tubes you weld on to the stock rock rails of a rubi. Has anyone used these or made your own. My question really is how sturdy are the stock rails. Dont want to spend 300 buck just to have the rail bend in half the first time I touch it. I dont plan on doing the hammers anytime soon but would like a little more confidence that a rock isnt going to reach out and bite my side panels. Thanks for the input.

I've hammered on mine pretty decent, and seen a video of someone nailing the crap out of a stock one..with no damage. They're fairly stout, just a little to close to the body, where adding on would be a bonus.
Made my own out of square tubing. They are pretty stout, and the steps I added are more than up to the task. I can stand on them with no concern as to them giving out. I would imagine the tubing that you buy would be even stronger. The weak link is going to be the weld points, and as long as you have a good welder put those on, you should have no problem. The stock rubi rails can take quite a beating.
