Default Do I need to chop front bumper?

I recently put a 3.5" rock krawler mid flex system on my 09 unlimited and was backing into my garage (ground fairly level) oh tires are 315/70R16 I was turning the wheel and it caught my front passenger side bumber and nearly ripped it off there is a nice crease in the plastic near the tip. My question is it normal for this to happen and do I need to chop the front bumper? Thanks for the input

I run a TF 4" and 35s. I had to change mine out. the tires were binding really bad at full stuff. Good excuse to get the new stubby!

I am running a 3" teraflex on my 2007 2 door rubi with 315/75 16 and have not had any rubbing issues even at full stuff. I am also running pro-comp wheels. Having said that a stubby is still on my x-mas list!

you should just chop it regardless of whether you need it or not. it's something fun to do for almost nothing. i did mine last week since i'm laid off and have no money for anything. it gave me something to do and again, it's a very cheap mod. i think i spent $5 on rivets and a few more on some washers for the back of the rivets (since the plastic is rather soft and i couldn't find split shank rivets anywhere close). here are some pics (gotta show it off)

I can't quite figure it out either. I just back from getting realigned and everything should be good to go but still rubs. I crawled underneath to make sure that everything looked good and tight and it is. I guess I will take the advice and just whack it down so that I won't have to worry about out on any trails later on. I can't afford a new bumper right now because I am saving for gears.

Did it rub the bumper, or the air dam underneath? If it's the air dam, rip that thing off.
I've heard of this happening to the bumper when flexed, but not when turning.
