I will be adding nitto trail grapplers (295/70/17) I know they are only 1.5 taller than factory but also because of the added weight of the tire?

I just added 33's to mine. As if the JK didnt seem like it was lacking in horsepower before it certainly doesnt make it any better by adding bigger tires. I plan on adding a superchip before too long as well as an exhaust to try to make up for what I lost with the tires. It isnt that bad.. if even noticeable.. I just wouldnt go any bigger without considering regearing prior.

In other words.. you should be fine.

You'll probably be good. I'm doing the same. You should be alright with 33 inchers. Especially if you've got stick.

if your jeep has 3.73 gears you wil be "OK" but as stated above not great power ( as if we had a lot to start with)

Need? No

But, you have an auto with 3.73's? Auto's are under-geared straight from the factory, so you may 'want' to regear regardless. Especially if you have any intention of going to taller future tires in the future.

Yea, thats my concern. JKs don't have an excess of power. I will be recalibrating the computer to the bigger wheels. I don't want to mess up something, like the transmission with the added stress. Does adding a super chip void out warranty? Anyone?

Any part that your JK did not leave the factory with can void parts of the warranty. Talk to your dealership to get their opinion.

I wouldnt mention anything to your dealer. You dont want to get your jeep flagged for whatever reason. As the guy above said.. anything can void your warranty and manty dealarships will enforce that. I would try and find a mod friendly dealer just in case. ask around. I was able to hold off until my jeep was out of warranty before I started doing any serious mods, then it wasnt a worry.
