Do I need a spare?
For clarification...I want to save money by deleting the carrier. I already have a spare. The damn carriers and bumper/carrier setups are expensive.
U need a spare. I have 37" tires. My spare is 33". Its less than ideal but it works. I drove 80+ miles on it once and it was fine.
I don't want to spend money on a carrier either so I just keep the spare in the back of jeep.

Get a spare. We went wheeling this past weekend and 10min into the trail my uncle came down on a rock and bent his wheel and lost all air. The rocks were very small, but one was pointing up just right. Would have been a bad day had he not had a spare. Not like you can get a tow truck inot some trail.

Just saw your last post. There are cheaper tire carriers out there. Smitty makes on for around $130.

Idk if you guys have seem evolander but he is running a 37 nitto trail grap on atx slabs with out an issue for like 18k and has wheeled Jkx
With that being said all you have to do is extend the bump stops and maybe trim your rear bumper so it doesn't move,
Damn running a smaller tire? How was that on the trans

Lol he is not asking about the spare. He is asking about the spare carrier. I would say get the carrier because the added weight will work the hell out of the stock hinges. You will potentially cause more damage than it will cost to buy the carrier. Better safe than sorry.
I run the stock 32's no spare but if I go wheelin I throw it in the back. I have on board air with plugs though. When I go 37's I'll have the spare all the time in the back. Not too many people with your same size tire a phone call away
You could always get a 37" doughnut emergency spare.
I can't run a spare that's smaller than the opposite side tire because of my TrueTracs.

Guy we were wheeling with this weekend had a new set of 37" Goodyear mts. They were on a fairly easy trail and a root that was barely sticking out tore an un fixable gash in the sidewall. Luckily he had a spare. I always go with if you don't have a spare don't go any further than you want to walk.
