Default Do I need a Swing Arm for my Spare?

I'm about to buy new bumpers, and am wondering if I need a swing arm or If leaving it stock is OK. I've got Duratracs that measure to about 34.25 inches on stock wheels. Duratrac is a pretty light tire, but I do ride trails on the weekends. Do I need to buy a swing arm for my bumper or will I be ok? I've seen the cracks in the mounts, but not sure how common this is. Going to get the Poison Spyder Brawler light for the fron and probably the rear as well btw.

Swing arm or not? Extra 800 could go to a new Sig AR

I'd say get the swingarm/carrier. Thought I was gonna be ok, until my gate began to warp. I was lucky to catch it before any damage happened.

There's no rhyme or reason why some tailgates warp or pop welds (mine) and others don't. I get the appeal of another AR, but a proper tire carrier should be on the shopping list.

Do a search for "tailgate welds" for photos of mine and others tailgate welds pulling apart due to the extra weight.

Mine is snug and resting against tailgate bump stops and the bumper. I don't see how it's ever gonna damage the tailgate.

Seems to be a crap shoot as far as guys having issues with the tailgate or stock carrier. Some run 35s on it and haven't had issues, others run into serious problem. I'd say if you can, get the carrier, it's good insurance.

Not to highjack the thread, but I'm new to the forum and have a similar question. I have a 2008 Unlimited X that I will be installing 18 x 9 XD Monsters with 285/60/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers.
Will the stock tire carrier handle these new wheels and tires?

Thanks in advance.

Your going to be fine mounting it on the OEM spare mount. My tire is 315 wide and I have stock wheels with out the extra backspacing your going to have.
