While they do provide true "cold air", which is good, the distance and amount of bends in the ducting can give a slight decrease in performance.

I run the AEV with ram air top...no change in sound or performance.

Ripp tested a snorkel on a super charged JK and it lost almost 30hp.

But every review I've seen by normal drivers says they feel no difference.

With the super charger they lost nearly 30hp however without the super charger there would be very little loss if not a slight gain.

There are two more bends required for air on the AEV snorkel but look at where the factory air box sucks in the air.. it is fairly air deprived in that location.

I gained maybe 1 mpg with my AEV snorkel but I only got it for the cheap insurance of an accidental dunk. Here in the spring the trails get very wet and it isn't uncommon for a trail to get dug out by the trucks on 44s so what was a 1 foot water hole next week might be 3 feet..

Bottom line is the AEV snorkel doesn't appear to have any major negative or positive affect on engine performance.

No noise from my Rigid Ridge snorkel. Couldn't tell much difference in horse power with 34's and 3.73 gears .

I was running an Airiad CAI. I noticed better throttle response and sound. It had a little more torque. I took it out an now have a gen1 AEV Snorkel and the thing is a total slug. It couldn't get out of its own way. I miss the CAI but love the look and function of the snorkel. The Diablosport Intune is next for me
