Default Does ESC Killswitch kill BLD?

Hi,

I recently installed an esc killswitch. When activated I noticed the ABS light comes on. I will be offroading this weekend, since the switch kills abs does this also mean the brake lock differential will no longer work?

Thanks.

Maybe, depends on the programming and there's not a lot of disclosure. I think you're going to have to test it to find out.

Here's an idea: Using a floor jack with good wheels on a concrete floor, jack one side of the rear axle up until the tire clears. Startup the engine and carefully test if the brake on the raised wheel engages and the Jeep moves a little, or the raised tire just spins. I'm curios what you find out...

Side note; personally I'm not a kill switch fan. Disabling ESP works fine, but the number one problem I've seen is forgetting to disable with the long button press -- And realizing that every engine-off it has to be disabled again. I've forgotten that myself, and it actually can be dangerous to drive sand dunes with it on. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't see any benefit as long as one remembers to turn it off with the long press. A switch is obviously not going to reset itself automatically, but there is some risk to modding the wiring of a safety circuit. No free lunch, there's always compromises to be made.

Good idea, I will try it out this weekend and see what the wheel does with it lifted. The main reason I use the switch is to kill esc in 2wd as the long press doesn't seem to fully disable esc in 2wd like it does in 4lo. That and sometimes I would like ABS to be disabled offroad which the long press wont do.

I think it will yes. I think any cell in your dash will disable the BLD.
