Default does the extension on shocks really count?

I'm lookin for new shocks. The shocks I have extend 27.37" and collapsed at 16.09" and I'm barely maxing them out as far as extension.. If I get shocks with lets say a Extended Length 28.41 in and Collapsed Length 16.03 in I shouldnt have any issues?

Are you running a lift ? What size lift are you running? Did you measure full drop and full compress after lift was installed or just used the recommended by the MFG

How much Chrome is showing on compression and extention on your current shock
What is the overall length on compression and extention of current , is the shock not allowing full suspension travel now ?

You shouldn't have any issues If you are barley maxing them and still have suspension travel but I would measure before spending the $

I have a 3.5 in long arm. Bought the jeep used and have been swapping parts out. The shocks that came with it are Fabtech shocks front FTS7118 ext 27.37 col. 16.09and rear FTS6002 ext. 27.10 and col. 16.84 made for a JK with 5" lift. I measured the front shock from eye to eye and came up a tad under 27". On the front I have about 7 1/4 chrome exposed and 8" in the rear. I've gone trailing before and had no issues as far as flex. The shocks are pretty much blown now and I'm kinda confused. Jeep always was a little rough on the bumps. I guess my question is if the lift is a 3.5 why are shocks meant for a 5" lift nearly maxed on ext. Does this mean my Lift is higher than informed. Also If I'm going to change out shocks would a longer ext really matter? Isnt the collapsed measurement the important factor. I'm saving up for a coilover conversion kit and a larger lift kit but just need a cheap replacement for now. I've come across RANCHO RS5000 shocks with a front spec of 37.5 and 16.3 and rear spec of 28.5 and 16.75 meant for a 4" long arm. Will I have issues? All info is very appreciated.
