Default Does this make sense?

I have an 09 Sahara and have the 18" rims. The tires need to be replaced and I can't help but notice that 17" tires are cheaper. I would like to replace these for as cheap as possible. I found some JK Rubicon take-offs on my local forum with the 17" Moabs with great tread life left.

Does it make sense to buy these and get rid of the Saharas? They want 600 for all 5. seems like a good deal, but I don't know if there is something I am not thinking about.

That is what I would do, but that's just me.

Personally when my tread wears off on my 35's on m stockers im going to a 16" rim with 35's again but the tires are way cheaper for 16's vs 17's.

Yeah, I think 16s are the ultimate goal, but all I ever see are 17 take-offs. I am trying to be budget friendly right now and I think this might be my best option. is 600 a fair price for 5 take-offs? I feel like it should be less...

That's not a bad deal. Most of those deals are in the same range. I have 17's and you could also do 16's but the stock size at least for the Rubicon were all 17inch. Either way anything less than 18 inch is good and will work fine. Do you like the look of the Moab's. If so go for it.

Actually I really do. I think they are one of the best looking production rims ever made. I think I will plasti-dip them black, like I did with my sahara rims, but they look damn good. Ok, thanks guys. I appreciate the help.

That's what I would do, I'd buy the rubi take offs, turn around and sell your used Sahara wheels for $150-$200 on Craigslist you end up only paying around $400 out of pocket.... I paid $1,200 for my km2's then sold all 5 of my stock Goodyears for $500, so really I only paid $700 out of pocket for my new tires

That is a good deal. If you prefer the looks of the Rubi wheel then defintely do it. You could also try to sell your wheels that you take off as well.

The 17" wheel is really a good choice. I know tires are cheaper for a 15" and 16" wheel, but there are other things to take into consideration if you ever plan on making additional modifications to your Jeep. For example, Rock Krawler recommends a 17" wheel to use their HD Pro Tie Rod and Teraflex recommends a minimum 17" wheel size for their big brake kit calipers to clear the wheel. There are other examples, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
