Default Don't think this is good?

Long time lurker, finally got my jeep lifted and nothing but problem since then.
I have bad death wobble at 50mph.
I have read the stickies, many posts on control arms, track bars, ect.
While trying to eliminate possible causes for the DW I found this.
This is on flat level ground. Just doesn't seem right to me.

I did not do the install.
I am running a Teraflex 4", 8 arm, lift with Bilsteins.

Thanx for any help.
Steve

So whats the deal? Is it the bald right front passenger tire or the two crotch rockets? Seriously, have you made sure that all is tight and installed within specs? Take it back to who installed it and make them check it out. It can be fixed

Drop the arms, loosen the jamnut, straighten the joint. You could either put it in a vise or put a small crowbar through it and then tighten the jamnuts. Are your jamnuts loose? if they back off abit you can get rotation of the joint like this.

You can tighten the jam nuts with the arms on, you just need to over compensate, where you have the heim joint before you tighten the, or use a prybar to hold them still inside the bracket. Whoever did that has NO business working on anything. That is pathetic and sickeningly stupid.

Loosen, then retighten EVERYTHING installed, with the Jeep on the tires.

Triple check the trackbar, it can be deceiving.

Lastly make sure you have 5-6 deg of caster, and have the toe close to zero as you can without having wander. Also if you let someone else do your alignment make sure they understand you can't adjust each sides caster independently because it's a solid axle, I actually had a Jeep tech argue with me about that, and said the axle will twist a little!

Thank you HARDCORE, and MK!
I will try to straighten those out.
So something like that "could" cause the death wobble?

With such shoddy workmanship I can't imagine what else is loose or messed up under there that I am hesitant to take it back to them.

I checked for play on the track bar while I had someone turn the wheel side to side and didn't feel anything loose.

I will keep trying.
Thanx
Steve

I don't see the issue here. Its a Johnny Joint, if its rotated like that it should have no effect on your ride its meant to pivot like that...

I have read the criteria for a dw. It just happens more often when I hit a bump around 50mph.

I don't know much about jonny joints, but I would think something like that is not meant to be twisted to its extreme sitting on a flat surface putting stress on the bushings inside?

Mine ended up twisted like that when I first put them on cause I tightened the jamnut with the CA's on. Drove it for a few weeks like that, no wobbles, didn't make any difference at all from straight joints. I eventually straightened them.

Lol! They DO have to be straight! It does make a difference. When your suspension flexes in the direction the HEIM joints are butted up to the bracket, you will bind up the arm and tear the bracket, bend the arm, loosen the jam nut, or ruin the joint, or all of those.

Umm, yeah I know that, those few weeks I was on road. It'd definately make a difference off-road, duhhh. Bend the arm or tear the bracket? I guess anything's possible but unlikely unless you bash the bracket or CA. I'd go for it'd loosen the jamnut And it'd take a significant amount of force to bend or tear as you say the bracket from side load, these aren't TJ brackets.LOL
