Default Drag link noise

Or a 2007 Jeep Wrangler jk. I know the drag link is suppose to move up and down and u can do that with your hand. But is it suppose to make a metal clanking noise when I lift it up to max and let it come down to max position? Or are my rubber bushings or gasket things warn?

Being able to rotate it is fine. Check for vertical play in the tie rod if theres any it'll need to be replaced

Tie rod seems fine, it's the draglink it goes up and down I'm wondering is it suppose to make a metal to metal clanking noise when I raise it and lower it manually with my hand or are the rubber bushings that go on each end warn?

The drag link should rotate on the bushing, not move up and down. If you can stick something between it and the tie rod end (crow bar or something with leverage) and try to make it move up and down inside the bushing, it is toast and needs to be replaced ASAP.

Rotate how? It goes up and down on the bushing not side to side..... I'm confused...

Same as the tie rod - looking at it from the front of the Jeep, if you grab it with your hand like the throttle on a motorcycle and twist it, it will rotate on the joint front to back. That is normal. If you put something under the bottom of the joint and try to force the joint up (drive the cup up into the ball further), it should not move that way. Look at this video. You can see the joint movement vertically. The easier way to check is by using something to push up on the joint. Then you don't need two people. So, it almost looks like the bolt is loose, but it is actually the joint itself that is completely worn.

I see than what you are saying is normal is what is happening. Not the other stuff. But if you get the chance could you do the throttle thing to your drag link and tell me when you throttle turn and let go does it make a clanking noise or do the bushings make it quiet . I hope I'm making sense.
