Default Drain Plugs

When my Trektop NX is on in the summer, the rear compartment that holds my jack and other things gets flooded when it rains. Right now I can't keep anything in there. I don't really want to pull the drain plugs because I don't want insects, mice and other things getting in my Jeep - maybe that doesn't make any sense because I have the top and doors off right now...lol...but when I do have it closed up, I don't want unwanted things getting in. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that might make drain plugs with a screen in the center part so the water would just drain as soon as it comes in instead of holding 4" of water? Or does someone have any ideas as to how to rig something like that up? Maybe drill a hole in the drain plug and stick a faucet tip with the screen in it. Has anyone done anything like that that works?

While I follow your concept, and like the idea - I don't think any company actually makes something like this....

Experiment........ maybe some metal screening cut to size with some gorilla tape on the border?

Sounds like it might work.

You would think some company would have made these by now!

I mean, it might not be cosmetically appealing - but will serve its purpose. Not like that part of the jeep is seen all that much. Really is the only thing I think you can do, putting mesh screening. You can use small self-taping screws if you want to eliminate the use of tape, but that's your call.

No, I agree. You don't see the drain plugs. So I don't really care what it looks like as long as it works.

I understand where you're coming from but i figured I'd put my 2 cents in.

I had my tub bed lined about a 1 year ago. I used to keep my plugs in but I got caught in the rain a few times and my jeep filled up with rain. So about 2 times of having my jeep look like a swimming pool I pulled the plugs and never looked back. I haven't noticed unwanted creatures anymore than normal with the plugs yanked. The main thing that I get is spiders but only when I leave the top off.

I'm thinking about bedlining the tub next spring. What kind of bedliner did you use? Do you hear a lot more road noise?

I had mine line-x'd here local. It was $600 for them to prep it and spray it. There is a little more road noise and a little more heat coming up from the floor, but not bad at all. I love it and would definitely do it again.

Same with me. Mine is rhino lined. Wouldn't go back to carpet. A little bit louder and a little hotter at the floorboard but worth it.
