Drake transfer case knob

A buddy of mine bought me a Drake billet transfer case knob for a little "bling" after helping him out with the jeep. The instructions say to remove the stock knob with force. Anyone done this before? Any suggestions other than to "force" it off? Just thought I'd ask before I brake something!
