You'll be fine. This was talked about a while back, and the verdict was that there is something inside the case that will lubricate the front half when that driveshaft is removed.

I have seen several posts from people that run without the front shaft full time, and only swap it back in while they are on the trail.

because I just got an aftermarket one put on and don't want to take the chance of blowing my transfer case out on the 1200 mile drive there due to any vibrations.....that would be a bad start to a vacation...Seems to be a safer bet to take it off for the drive and put it back on down in Moab...

If it's installed correctly, how should that be an issue? I'm looking into getting an aftermarket front driveshaft installed in my JK also, but not sure what to expect.

Several people, including myself have suffered Tcase probs and failures as a result of what we think is running a combo of lifted , re-geared, and castor issues causing the front driveshaft to vibrate at high mph. Castor and pinion angle- we have to try to find a happy medium and or minimal vibration. It's suspected that once the driveshaft reaches a certain harmonic frequency with the vibes and sustains it for a period of time, BOOM!
Better safe than sorry, I pull mine on long trips.

So just out of curiosity...what would happen if you ran it in 4hi all that way going 70mph without a front shaft on... Nothing? Parts would fly off? Anything?
