I am putting on a front drive shaft made by coast. How do I know if I have my caster angle to extreme, at what point will I get drive shaft vibs. It's a double cardigan drive shaft and doing the flanges. My caster right now is set to 5.2 degrees. Will that be to much to make the shaft vibrate???

Likely not and there isn't much you can do about it anyway. If you're happy with your current caster setting and install the ds and you have no vibrations, you're good enough. If you do get vibration, then you can try less caster (improving your pinion angle) but probably at the expense of your steering sensitivity.

Yep, it is a balance between vibrations and steering feel. There is no real hard number answers for you to use. If you cant get a good steering feel and no vibrations then you have tow choices, caster correct the axle or reduce the amount of lift.

sorry to high jack the thread. Just a question.
if there is vibration that almost feels like it is fast side to side but only from past 60m/h (120km/h) would it be drive shaft or balancing of the tires in you opinion

I would say it was a tire. Driveshaft would be more felt in the gear shift.

Depends on height And the angle of the shaft itself.
No two jeeps are the same. One may get away with more caster then somebody else that needs a 3/3 split to not have vibes.

If you end up with vibes and don't want to drive with low caster, you always have the option of just running without the front shaft and installing it when needed. May be a pain to spend 10 minutes on your back at the trailhead, but several people have posted about doing it that way. (or get ya a caster corrected pr for the front )
