Drive Shaft Help
I noticed after coming home from my 6,000 oil change that there was a tear in the upper CV boot on the rear drive shaft. I need to work this out with the dealer for repair, but I plan to upgrade to a JE Reel replacement and adjustable upper control arms. I have a 4" Skyjacker lift on my 2 door Rubi, but this did not come with adjustable arms.
Now for my novice question. When I install the upper control arms to adjust the pinion angle up, do I risk the possible fall out of the coil springs? Is there a rule I should follow to adjust this angle other than "point the differential toward the transfer case"?

I want to know this as well.
Join the club on the torn driveshaft boot... If you do some searching you will find more info on this. I'm guessing that you have the automatic, as most of the torn boots (if not all) have been on automatics with 3 or more inches of lift. The boot is not a servicable part according to the dealer parts department. I was able to get mine replaced at a local driveline shop for $11, but this did not actually "fix" the problem. The only real fix will be to go to aftermarket driveshafts. As for the springs falling out because of a castor change...that won't happen. You should use an angle finder of some sort to determine your actual castor angle for the front, not your pinion angle. Good luck
I had the boot tear on my front drive shaft before because the clip struck the transmission pan. The dealer replaced the whole drive shaft because the boot was not a servicable part. This is what I saw happening to others as well with a 3" or higher lift.
This tear happened to the top boot on the rear drive shaft where it connects to the transfer case and have not seen any others on the forums report this.
