blockrockin,

I have got the BDS 4.5" lift and 37" tires on my 4dr Unlimited Sahara, and have found no need to change the drive shafts at all.

To date I have about 800 miles on the lift and everything is just fine. However, if down the road I see a need for a change in drive shafts I would go with Tom Woods shafts. I had them on another Jeep I had and loved them.

thanks for the info. yeah that is what im going to do the bds 4.5 lift and 35's the offroad place here that i was talking to said they wouldnt even install the lift unless i got the drive shafts because of safety issues. they said any lift over 4 inchs would cause the drive shaft to break at some point? mayb they just want me to spend more money ? so you have no issues at all with out the drive shaft change ? how do you like the lift ? did you get it installed if so how much did you spend ? i cant decided if i should change them or not ? thanks for the help

is a 3" lift and 35's on a 2dr going to require a rear Driveshaft? I see on the site some have it and some dont.

Lift's and 2drs are a whole nother story. The shorter wheels base on the 2dr is the problem. With the shorter wheel base there is more drive shaft angle and thus makes it harder on all the joints.

I don't think I would do a lift on a 2dr without addressing the drive shaft issue. Plus add an Automatic trans to the mix and you have even a larger problem. Shorter drive shaft yet.

As far as drive shafts on the 4dr, if your really going to get into wheeling alot and have the extra cash, go for it. Under hard off road use the stock shafts are going to be your week link, if all your going to do is some LIGHT off road use I would suggest put the money into other mods. Just keep an eye on the shafts if it worries you.

To-date I love the 4.5" BDS lift, no problems at all. But then like I said I have only have about 800 miles on it, and very limitied off road use. But have had no drive shaft issues so far.

Total cost for lift with gas shocks was I think $1550 or so plus labor. if I remember right total was about $3500 or so. But that did'nt count wheels and tires.......

i still see alot of folks running 2drs and 35's on a 2.5" BB and not hearing about issues or problems and yet I hear a guy on 37's and 3" lift in an Unlimited w/auto blew a DS and it looked like pooo.

Are people hiding their dielema's? (sp)?
I follow your points on a SWB JK, Lifted, Auto = bad lines... but not hearing many reviews.
