Driveshaft Boot replacment
tore my driveshaft boot a while back. don't really want to spend money on a aftermarket, but i did see a boot replacement kit by Crown for something like 35 bucks..
anyone have thoughts on just replacing the boot on the stock DS?

Its just going to rip again. If its the slip shaft boot I wouldn't worry about it and I would grease it every oil change. If its the transfer case side boot eventually it will fail but it usually takes quite awhile, I put over 20k miles on mine like this with heavy wheeling. I would just save up some cash for an aftermarket shaft.

i'm sorry-what's the difference? i assume it's the slip yoke boot?? it's the one that joins the 2 parts of the driveshaft. if i just wanna grease it, just drop the front out, hit with some greas and slide her back in?

The boot that goes over where the two parts of the driveshaft connect is prone to tearing either by rubbing on the skid plate or the side of an auto transmission. All I would do is use a needle fitting on a grease gun and shoot it between the splines, no need to remove it. Hope this makes sense I'm a little hung over.
