Default Is this driveshaft fixable?

First off I plan getting a custom driveshaft but have to wait til I get my new lift so I can get proper measurements......So my stock front driveshaft has to work for now.......and it has a torn boot from my last trip and I'm hoping to prolong its life a little longer with a new boot........is that possible? The dealer said I can't get just the boot as it is all one "piece". So that would require a whole new driveshaft from them for $600, No thanks.

It's only about the front 2in on the center boot that's torn away. Does anyone know a part number for this or where I can get one to replace it. I'm I wrong to assume that you just need to remove the drive shaft, grease shaft and slide on the new boot?

So what options do I have to keep this driveshaft til I can get a replacement?

I realize I should be fine for some time on the road but can I go wheeling with it this way and not worry about losing 4wd due to the failure of the front driveshaft?

I was told to run it till failure. Which doesnt make me any happier...but I a just going to try to keep mine clean and lubed till I have the cash for a new drive shaft. Like wol said, it should be fine. The one to worry about is the other one near the transfer case. Good Luck with whatever you do!

as mentioned, just remove the clamp so that it doesn't rattle around and either leave what's there in place or cut it off altogether. the grease will dry up and start to squeak over time but that's about it. you should be good to wheel with it just as is

i run my rear droveshaft without boot since april without any issue
or annoying sounds

but I really don't k now why jeep can not sell the boot ans clips...
it's the same thing of my little clip that hold the t-case cable
they replace the whole assembly beacuse the clip was not listed
a 300$ guarenteed job to replace a 5 cent standard c-clip...

so I will use the jeep thinking, run it till it breaks then replace it with better stuff
