The driveshaft you have found is NOT a direct replacement for the original driveshaft. You also will need the front transfer case yoke which runs an additional 74.99. If you are going that route it would be cheaper to get a J.E. Reel driveshaft through 4 wheel drive hardware for 409.99 for the whole kit ( driveshaft and both flanges ). J.E. Reel 1310 Direct replacement driveshafts use the original flanges and only run 379.99 from 4 wheel drive hardware. Some people will argue that there are better driveshafts out there. I do own J.E. Reel driveshafts and I did have a problem with their driveshaft but they were very helpful and I got a new driveshaft. Remember that the direct replacement driveshafts are for FACTORY size tires. If you plan on running larger tires or already are then you need the heavy duty 1310's for the 409.99. But if you are strapped for cash this is the cheapest way to go. Hope this helped.

I picked up my Tom Wood's 1310 HD for $449. It's a high quality piece of equipment.

Hi HarryHood1,

I recently installed the Tatton front and rear driveshafts with replacement yokes at the pinions and transfer case outputs.

I found the pricing all to be pretty close between Woods, J.E. Reel, Coast and Tatton. I personally wanted to deal direct with the fabricator, so all of the pricing was from them directly. If you are really searching for the lowest price, make sure to consider the shipping cost, too.

I am happy with the Tatton driveshafts. Others are equally happy with Woods, J.E. Reel, and Coast. I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Jeff

I HIGHLY recommend talking to a local drive line shop. You will likely get a better product, at a lower price, with people that will warranty what they sold (some DS companies stand behind their product, but at best you will be paying shipping and waiting for them to come back).

This is my experience at least.

What drive line shop do you recommend in Denver? I'm going to be needing a front driveshaft soon and would be interested in talking to someone local.

Talk to high county performance 4x4 (Hampden and Santa Fe roughly). Not sure if they do it themselves or send it out. But everyone I know that has used them, recommends them (they did my drive line after I had problems with one the commonly mentioned drive shafts manufacturers on this forum).

I purchased JE Reels, but best thing to do is to have someone locally custom fab one for you.

I built up my lift as i could afford. if i were to do it over again i would buy a complete lift kit - springs, shocks, arms, driveshafts from 1 manufacturer.

that way you have 1 manufacturer to work with when trying to determine problems like driveline vibes ... are they caused by pinion angle, unbalanced driveshaft, or a driveshaft that was too long or too short?

a lot of manufacturers send parts out unlabeled so you have to 'hope' they are the correct ones for your application.

when i ordered teraflex control arms the 1st pair i could not adjust short enough to set pinion angle correctly, so i reordered "same part" and got a pair 3/4 inch shorter. same thing when i ordered jereel front driveshaft, 1st ones had a lot of the core exposed, 2nd ones had about 2 inches less exposed.

it's difficult for engineers to manufacture 'universal' applications when you begin lifting. you really have to respect all the efforts put into the original design to prevent drive line vibes, perfect steering issues and finding the sweet spot where everything works properly.

if you have a custom built driveshaft they will take measurements to make a shaft specific to whatever components you've installed.

Free shipping on my Tom Woods drive shaft. Received in about 1 week after ordering. Ordered through 4x4rockshop which drop shipped from TW. Very happy with the product! Can't believe how beefy it is compared to stock.
