Default Driveshaft Squeel and Knocking Noise

I have a 3" FT Ultimate lift and front/rear JE Reel driveshafts on a 2008 JK. Everything has been working fine until this afternoon when leaving work. All of a sudden, my driveshaft (rear I think) has started to make a God awful squeel/whine sound when the throttle is applied at any and all speeds. I've also noticed what can only be described as a knocking sound when applying the gas as well. Both of the noises appear to be coming from the rear driveshaft. Yes, I have used the "search" function. The sound isn't the dustcover, as that has been removed. It isn't a heat shield rattle, or any other nloose piece of metal. I don't have the slightest idea what else it could be.

Can someone PLEASE help me! I'm about to lose my sh!t.

I have the same set up as you. FT 3"and JE Reels. Have you lubed up the u-joints in the driveshaft? If not then that could explain the whine. Go under the jeep and try moving the d/s up and down and back and forth. If you have worn out the u-joints and there is play that could be your clunk. Also the FT suspension is prone to blowing out bushings and, which like mine, will squeel and clunk when gas is applies. Check the bushings for a crack that usually starts at the 3 o'clock position. Good luck!!!

I had the same exact thing happen to mine with the front shaft. I took it off and the sqeal went away and as soon as I put it back on it was there again. I called J.E. Reel and they couldn't figure it out. They told me to call the company that sold it to me cause since I didn't buy it from them they couldn't help me. I called 4 Wheel Drive Hardware and they replaced it with very few questions asked. When I received the new Drive Shaft it was slightly different and I called J.E. Reel and they told me they have 2 different styles. I still have not had a problem with the new one at all.

I think the CV has a needle grease zert. If so I would grease it with a good quality grease (check with JE REEL).

It's possible that it just needs grease. But mine was only on the Jeep for about 500 miles when it started. I had greased it before I put it on and I did it again when the noise started and nothing helped it.

My front ended up being the TF case bearings. JeReel said they had a couple people that continued to run there's like that and blew the TF case apart. Dunno if it's the DS causing this or something with the TF case bearings. Pull your frt DS to make sure it's not in the frt, mine reverberated though the whole tub and sounded like it was coming from the rear.

Greased EVERYTHING and even pulled the front driveshaft. The noises are still there. I have located the noise to be either the rear driveshaft or the transmission. Got an appointment at the stealership Monday.

It could very possibly be the rear driveshaft too. Well even if it isn't the dealership will probably blame it on that so you have to pay for it.
