Default Driveshafts ??????

In the fall I am planning on buying 4.5" lift and replacing the driveshafts allong with it . I was planning on buying Tom Woods but I have read some really bad reviews . Also I have read other posts on this subject but I wanted some more feed back, along with the which driveshafts are the best to run.

Which 4.5" lift are you buying? You might want to look into Trailmasters kit which comes with driveshafts.
I've been very happy with mine, it is solid, complete kit, great ride and fits 37s with no trimming.

You cant go wrong with the clayton. I have the clayton 4.5 and love it. Handles awesome. Great street manners and tough as hell. Also great customer service. I got the Tom Woods shafts with my kit also. My front shaft was jacked up from the start. I replaced it with a tattons that I love. However the problem was that the CV wasnt greased properly at tom woods. I believe if I would of greased it prior to install it would of been fine. I shouldnt have to but I know better now. If you dont want the shafts then dont buy them from clayton when you get the lift. Tattons makes his with spicer u-joints and is a little cheaper. His customer service seems awesome. I say seems because I havent broke a shaft to find out yet. But my buying experience was very smooth. Just call curtis tatton and he will set you up with what you need.

for the most part, drive shafts are drive shaft with the biggest difference being in what u-joints are used and how well they are balanced. i personally like spicer u-joints as they have proven themselves to work great and, i like coast shafts because they come with them right from the factory. if you go with the popular brand you've listed, just make sure to upgrade the joints to spicers. the crappy chinese joints that come with it aren't worth their weight. i see them blow out all the time and just saw another brand new one go out on the JK Experience.

The joints was another reason I was leaning away from the TW and also that a lot of people were having the problems with them out the gate

of course, you say this and the only experience you've had is with the one brand that has given you problems

for the record, i have not had ANY problems with the coast shafts i'm running on nemo now nor have i had any problems with the custom shafts i've had made for moby locally.

If you re-read all of the bashing posts, you may note a lot of people that 'heard' they are bad but have no actual experience. A lot of comments about not bothering to grease the shaft at install and never looking at it until after a joint is already failing. Or the latest, a 7" lift on 2door, running stock ca's so the pinion angle is off, not greasing of course, and blaming vibes and noise on the shaft.
funny, i just saw a BRAND NEW shaft made by the popular company that you like so much blow out a u-joint and only after one wheeling trip on the JK Experience. but hey, what do i know.

Doesn't matter which one you choose, if you don't set it up right and refuse to maintain it, it's gonna fail...
yes, improper install and lack of maintenance will cause a drive shaft to fail. however, cheap chinese u-joints will fail as well - i have seen it happen again and again and again and to the point where it's become a kind of a joke on the trail.

nthinuf I definatly agree with what your saying. You can't always trust that people are maintaining or installing them properly that's why im asking questions now rather than later.

I was just looking to see what people were running and why. And weather or not you have had good experience with them
