Default Driving a drum

Hope you guys can help....

I have a 2 JK door with a 2.5" rough country BB lift.

When I drive with the windows up , sometimes it sounds like I'm driving a drum. Plus all the road noise that I didn't notice when it was stock.

Is it my crappy stock shocks, I'm using shock extenders.....it's a Sahara ?

What are the best shocks to upgrade to ? I was thing TF's or EMU's

Or should I upgrade to a coil lift ?

I do live the in the flat lands of Nebraska so it doesn't see any hardcore wheeling.....

Thanks for the help !!!!

It sounds very unlikely that it did this due to the suspension change. Do you have a soft top? Make sure everything is as it's supposed to be top wise first.

Hi,
I saw this post and thought I'd suggest a HotHead headliner kit if you have a hardtop. I've been told that they cut highway noise by about 50%. I have lots of links to posts by other Forum members who have them on my web site: www.hotheadheadliners.com
thanks for your time,
Mark

the Drum is prob your hardtop (if you have one) did you recently switch to it from your soft top??

when go over bumps, my hardtop makes it sound like im sitting inside a giant subwoofer...

I think I will be doing the hothead headliner shortly.. (I was hoping MOPAR would come out with a solution but waiting for that is like waiting for them to ship a JK with a Hemi)

my hardtop does the same thing when on gravel roads, I guess the only way to explain it is driving in a drum. I find I have to roll down a window

This does sound like buffeting or resonance of sorts. The lift did change the aerodynamics of your JK, so it could indirectly be producing the problem.

Try changing the air pressure inside. If it happens with the windows fully closed, then crack one open. If it happens with the recirculation air turned on, then turn it off, etc. This will help you find the conditions that produce it.

Did you remember to reuse the stock spring rubber puck between the steel lift pucks and the spring?
