Default Driving without front driveshaft

I have developed a vibration in the front drive shaft. I am planning on replacing it but can I drive without a front drive shaft until it come in? Any help would be appreciated.

So it's okay to take the front drive shaft out and still drive around? Sounds like a n00b question but I just want to double check.

I only put my driveshaft on when I'm going to the off road park. Gets a little better gas mileage it seems like also.
I run a tatton and its easy to put in on and remove.

I was about to say, you might actually get better mileage. I know someone who changed his axle shafts to a locking hub system and swears it saved him a mpg or two on the highway... obviously removing the front ds won't stop the axle shafts from rotating but it will be half the savings a locking hub system would provide.

I usually take my drive shaft off for the summer just because the only four wheeling we have here is snow so I figure as simple as it is to remove I may as well save a little wear on it!!

I know this is a dead thread. But why can we drive without front driveshaft but not dolly tow with front wheels up? What's the difference mechanically? Thanks
