Default Dumping the exhaust before the rear axle

Anybody trim their exhaust to dump before the rear axle. I've heard about fumes in the cab, but never had anyone state they've actually had issues with the fumes. Anyone have experience?? Not looking for opinions, I've heard enough about what could happen.

Thanks
BP

I dumped mine before the axle.
I have the dynomax rockcrawler under the driver's seat with a 6" extension from there and a turn down tip. No issues, sounds great.

I've been running the Dynomax rock crawler exhaust now for about four months and haven't had any issues from fumes coming into the cab.

was thinking of doing this same thing... I removed my muffler years ago...and was thinking why not cut it off before the axle???

Thanks for the motivation

I just bought the Dynomax Ultra Flo 6" round welded muffler and had a local shop weld it in mid-pipe (relocated my evap can to be on the safe side). Removed the stock muffler and let it dump where the stock hooked up to the rest of the factory pipe bend above the rear axel. Easy, cheap, and sounds great. I've sat in it while idling plenty over the winter months and fumes are a non issue. Plenty of air flow underneath to dissipate the exhaust gasses.

Here's my set up. I ordered the same dynomax muffler that comes with the rock Krawler package and welded it in line. It fit perfect next to my rugged ridge evap skid. I dumped the exhaust where the factory muffler clamps and added a turn down. Works and sounds amazing.

I would route the pipe as far back or out the side. You cannot smell carbon monoxide so that's not a good indicator if you have exhaust entering the cabin. If you spend any amount of time driving through water or just real slow, guess which path a portion of the exhaust will take to escape...probably into the cab.

most modern vehicles (jeep included) run cleaner than the average L.A. air you breathe. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer tho, but CO emissions out of newer vehicles is very small as long as the factory emissions equipment is in place.
